“My goal is to make our unique and beautiful henna available to everyone, wherever they are in the world. I hope that henna treatments become a mainstay of the wider arena for beauty bookings. Blow dry? Manicure? Henna? Certainly! - Pavan Dhanjal
Pavan Dhanjal was born in East London.
Only fifteen years old, encouraged by her parents, Pavan created decorative henna designs for the first time at a family wedding.
She was immediately addicted, her goal to be the best possible practitioner of her chosen art form, and determined to develop a unique style, with a flair that was not available elsewhere.
As the demand for her skills increased, and after winning a Guinness World Record in 2012 (she completed 512 unique bracelets in an hour, beating her 2009 record), Pavan was asked for a pop-up henna -bar open in the top store Oxford Circus Store of Topshop.
It was received enthusiastically and was a huge success.
In June 2018, Pavan received a British Empire Medal for Services to Beauty.
Nowadays, Pavan not only leads to the homes of her many clients, but also leads a dedicated and carefully composed team of henna artists who work in her bars Selfridges and Harvey Nichols.
She has worked with everyone from Rudimental to Ellie Goulding, Perrie Edwards and Alesha Dixon, and created custom designs for the catwalk shows of Antonio Berardi and Mannish Aurora.
Now a global brand, Pavan's The Henna Bar continues to grow with outlets in London and the UK, as well as Dubai, New York, Milan and Paris. Further expansion is firmly on the horizon.
Pavan is also the author of Part-Time Ink, a manual for creating modern henna designs at home.
On July 26, 2019, Pavan traveled to the Netherlands where she trained 4 people to become teachers.
With pride I can say that I am one of them.
